The short version: we only ask for what we need to answer you, mail a prize or connect you with help. We never sell your information.

This policy covers coffeenewsphx.com. The site is run by Coffee News® PHX, which is operated by Vexillum Media LLC, an independently owned franchise of Coffee News®. "We" and "us" below means Coffee News® PHX.

What we collect, and why

We only get personal information when you type it into one of our forms:

• Coffee Cup Contest: your name, phone number, email (optional), mailing address, city, ZIP, and your answer. We use it to pick and call winners, mail prizes, and print the winner's name in the paper.
• Need a Local Pro: what you need help with, your name, phone, email (optional), city, ZIP and the best time to call. We use it to get you a call back. See "Who we share it with" below.
• Advertising inquiries: your business name, your name, phone, email and what you're looking for. We use it to call you back about advertising.
• Reader of the Month nominations: the nominee's name, city and story, plus your contact info if you choose to give it. We use it to choose and feature a Reader of the Month.

Who we share it with

• Need a Local Pro requests go to a local business that partners with Coffee News® (one of our advertisers) in the kind of help you asked for, but only when you tick the box that says it's OK. That business will call you. If we don't have a partner for what you need, we call you back ourselves.
• The companies that run our website and email handle your information for us: Netlify (hosts the site and receives the forms) and Microsoft (our email). They don't use it for their own purposes.
• The law: if we're legally required to.

That's the whole list. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we don't add you to anyone else's mailing list.

Site statistics (analytics)

We use PostHog to count visits and see which pages help people most. When you first arrive, we ask whether that's OK:

• Before you answer: we only count anonymous page visits. No cookies are set and nothing is saved on your device.
• "Happy to help": PostHog saves a cookie so it can tell repeat visits apart, and may record how pages are used (scrolls and clicks) so we can fix confusing spots. What you type into forms is hidden from these recordings.
• "No thanks": nothing is collected at all.

To change your answer, clear this site's data in your browser and you'll be asked again.

Things saved on your own device

The site remembers a few things in your browser so it works the way you left it: whether you picked "Reader" or "Business Owner", your answer about site statistics, and your game progress (like your Buzz Words streak). These stay on your device. We can't see them.

Other services the pages load

Like most websites, our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, map code from unpkg, and map pictures from OpenStreetMap. Those services see your device's internet address when they send those files, as part of normal web browsing. If you click "Book a Time," you go to Microsoft Bookings, which has its own privacy policy.

How long we keep it

We keep form entries only as long as we need them: contest entries until the prize is paid, help requests until you've been called back, and business inquiries while we're talking. You can ask us to delete yours any time.

Your choices

Call or email us to see, fix or delete the information you gave us, or to tell us to stop contacting you. We'll take care of it.

Children

The site is family-friendly. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13, so kids that age should have a parent fill out any form for them. If you think a child sent us something, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
